Crappy Weather & Random Rant!

So the weather has been crappy, the satellite has been out and I've been on my own. Can't even watch The Duggar's tonight and there was gonna be a whole brand new episode on. What's a girl to do. Well I BBQ'D me a burger and it was darn good! Can't tell you the last time I used the barbecue but it's been awhile, but I figured it all out!

Yeah I had planned on going to the gym yesterday with my bike but first it started raining and then it started snowing. Could have taken a bus but I'm not a fan of buses except in times of dire need. Didn't grow up with buses except school buses that is, and I despised the hour I spent on them coming home from school. So needless to say, I hibernated yesterday. Only time I went out was to get the mail; took Penny Lane with me and even she didn't really want to go out.
But really needed to get out today, so I walked to the gym, cause once again they talked of snow. But had to walk backwards in a sense, so that was something new. New things freak me out! Hubby has always driven me to my new gym and I have walked home but today I had to do the route in reverse. Freaky!
Speaking of freaky, darling son stopped by after work and I enjoyed the visit. He suggested I get my driver's license. That is one thing I just cannot do as I have a focus impairment if that makes any sense.Guessing it would roughly cost a million dollars for someone to eventually teach me how to drive. But hey if I had that kind of money, I would pay someone to chauffeur me around!

While I was freaking out & dealing with myself, hubby was packing up youngest darling son's belongings and bringing them to his new temporary east coast home. He stopped at an Ikea to pick up a few things we wanted for our new home and while he was shopping someone stole his shopping cart that contained the stuff he was planning to buy. And it wouldn't have been an Ikea staff member, cause the stuff he was planning to purchase, had been removed from the cart and was placed randomly nearby. A staff member surely would have put the stuff back where it belonged. Seriously some folks need to learn some manners!

My snow covered back deck once again! Another freaking winter wonderland!

Love, love getting free stuff & prizes in the mail. Was rewarded with all this stuff when I went to pick up the mail. Gotta Love it!
Well enough said gotta go watch another downloaded episode of Grey's Anatomy!

Hanging Laundry on the line and then there were two dogs

Even though there is still snow on the ground especially in my backyard I'm thrilled to be able to hang out the laundry on the clothes line. To make this happen, had to spend a bit of time searching for my clothes pins. Since we moved seems like everyday we are searching for something!
Love the fresh outdoor scent of bed linens after they have been hung out on the line to dry versus tumbling around in the dryer. Finally starting to feel like spring is in the air!

Purchased some new outdoor globe lights to replace the black and also rusty builder grade original ones from ages past. Got them for a good price in the clearance section at The Home Depot.

Whilst darling son & daughter-in-law are basking in the Cuban sunshine, we are experiencing a double dose of the canine kind.Yes we are dog sitting! While Penny L and Mr.Cash have met on short visits, they are still getting used to one another. Hoping Mr.Cash will teach Penny a few good dog pointers!

Cash & Penny hanging out on the couch & getting a little more comfortable with one another!

Penny & Cash hanging out together with Daddy/Opa! Progress!

Senor Cash basking in the Nova Scotian sunshine on our back deck!  He is loving that spring is upon us!

Chilly Easter Monday morning & New Stuff

Woke up to a chilly -12 degrees on this lovely sunny Easter Monday morning. Happy & excited to once again own a barbecue. Notice it's covered with a light dusting of snow already & we haven't even used it yet.
One of the joys of moving to a new place is getting to go shopping around for some new things. Since we did move long distance we did leave a bunch of stuff behind, well we didn't exactly leave it behind but we either sold it, gave it away, donated it or eventually tossed it out. Would have been too costly to bring it all with us. So yeah it's kind of been fun getting some brand new stuff. Just gotta be careful not to get carried away; need to stick to our renovating budget so we can make all our other plans work.

Kitchen Reno is moving right along. Tiling done; just need to grout. And here's some new shelving above my coffee station! Hey it works for me! And by the way gonna get some snow tomorrow!

Sunday, March 29, 2015

So as we speak, well I speak you listen, hubby is out there once again with the snow blower. Yeah we got another dumping of snow, started yesterday morning, continued throughout the day and well into the night. May have carried on all night as far as I know.  Seems like this winter is like "the song that never ends and yes it goes on and on my friend..."
Ah well looks like the snowing & blowing have ended and at least now the sun is shining.

So we did end up choosing a classic white subway tile for the kitchen back splash. Had to go with something simple since the counter has a fairly busy pattern. Tiles & shelves are a work in progress; here's a sneak peek. By the way hubby is loving the nearby lumberyard  (Hefler Lumber) picked up all the rough lumber for the shelving from there. I haven't been yet but I'm sure he will be a regular at this place.
On another note, while we were out getting tiles for the kitchen back splash, spotted these Boston Ferns that were on sale. Had to have me one as I believed I had the perfect spot for one of them, well at least I hope it is the perfect spot. Always wanted one but never had the ideal spot for one. A plant hanger was already in place so that must mean something don't ya think?

Yes backyard looking like it's a Perfect Winter Wonderland once again!

One of my first contesting prizes that arrived at my new address from Bell Lifestyle products. Love it when I go to my community postal box and find a key in my box to unlock an even bigger box. You know it means that there is something bigger waiting inside. Kind of like unlocking a treasure box, well at least for me it is! Hoping this new address brings me lots of small treasures!

Cabin Fever & What to do!

As another system of rain/snow/freezing rain mix is upon us, I'm starting to go stir crazy. I want to go places, want to do things; I'm feeling antsy! Yep I'm thinkin I got me a case of that so called Cabin Fever
Yeah I know I could go downstairs & hang out on the elliptical but I'd still be in the same darn cabin.
Could go for a walk but most roads in the neighbourhood are down to a single lane due to all the snow & I'm not a fan of  sharing my walk with cars coming at ya in both directions.  I could walk on the sidewalk, well that is if I could find em.
Could go shopping but that would involve spending money & we've done enough of that lately with buying new appliances & reno stuff & all.
And window shopping, well is kinda like putting cheese in front of a mouse but not letting the mouse have it! For the birds if you ask me!
Could do some more Renovations except we're kind of  at a  point where certain things need to get done first so we can move on.
Could always do some cleaning except some areas are pointless to spend time cleaning when you're in the midst of renovations and yeah at the end of the day I would still be in the same darn cabin.
I know there are probably a million things I could do but I'm just too antsy to do anyone of em.

At least hubby can escape these 4 walls & hang out & putter in his large shed/garage.

Ah well I've done enough ranting!
Maybe I'll  just watch the snow plow widen the roads or continue reading Chihuahua's For Dummies or maybe I'll google things to do in Snova Scotia! Guess it  could be worse as some folks in my area are without power!

Oh and I haven't had mail since last Tuesday! Looks like the snow around the mail boxes is slowly melting away; maybe there will be something good in the mail this week!

Too Much Snow Thursday & Hubby are you out there!

Well the storm has passed and the sun is shining and the clean-up has begun. It's been a slow process, as our snow blower is kind of a baby one & needs to take breaks now & again. I went out to loosen some snow so hubby could then come by with blower & blow it away. Not sure exactly when we'll have the driveway opened up to the street or even when the car will be able to get out. And as far as clearing a path to the front door goes, well forget about it! Who needs a front door anyway!

Hubby are you out there?

Please Let It Not Snow & Orange Is The New Black

Please Let It Not Snow I Think We've Had ENOUGH
I've been hanging out in PJ's the last few days well more like lounge pants. Must admit all this snow makes you feel like hibernating and with all the blowing & drifting snow it's not really advisable to go anywhere unless you really have to. Although I would have liked to have gone to the gym today, it's not like I really have to go.

And weather like this is perfect for indoor projects which we have no shortage of. Just cleaned the kitchen ceiling fan/light fixture which we just took down. That one will be going in our master bedroom in place of the existing one. And as I speak, hubby is trying to figure out how to best hang our kitchen pot rack.

As we were driving down the highway the other day, I noticed that a lot of folks, mainly guys were driving in their cars with orange safety jackets. Got me wondering if everyone around here works for the city. Well yesterday in my neighbourhood, when some made an attempt to shovel out their driveways, they were all wearing orange safety jackets too. Does everyone here really work for the city, is it law to wear orange safety jackets or is it that Orange Is The New Black?
Guess I know what to buy for hubby next Christmas!

Just ventured out to check the mailbox down the street. Ah yeah right, wasn't about to climb over the mountains of snow and I'm sure Canada Post didn't either. The mail will have to wait for another day!

Snowy Day & Let The Renovations Begin!

It's a Snowy Day here again in Nova Scotia as you can see from my back deck. As the snow continues to fall, hubby is out there with the snow blower for the first time this morning but I'm sure it won't be the last. Need to keep on top it before it becomes impossible with our baby snow blower!

As promised, here is a pic of my kitchen before it undergoes some much needed renovations. Actually it has already started! First day we were here, we took down the office type of vertical blind from the kitchen window and also removed the oak wood valance between the cupboards above the window. For the moment,  the patio door blinds which were the same as above the kitchen window will remain until we have a replacement.

And kitchen island is a new addition; found it on kijiji and picked it up yesterday. Has some stains on the granite which are not terrible and I can live with! But I am giving it a shot to remove them!  Tried a baking soda/ water paste and let it soak overnight. Waiting for the moisture to evaporate but the stains are still remaining. Any tried & true ideas as to how to remove the stains are most welcome!

Anyway here is a sneak peak at our plans for renovating the kitchen: plans include painting the cupboards, putting new hardware on the cupboards, installing new counter top and lighting fixtures, removing the office blind on the patio door & replacing with curtains, new appliances and installing some more shelving on the wall behind the island (not visible) and around the room. Also plan to hang our old pot rack above the island. Let the renovations begin!
